Land Governance

The Land Governance Department is responsible for administering and implementing the Nation’s Land Code which was ratified by kʷikʷəƛ̓əm members on May 30, 2020 and became operational on July 1, 2020.  This Land Code means that the Nation now has the ability to make decisions on how they want to see their lands developed on their two reserves, slakəyánc (I.R. #1) and setɬamékmən, (I.R. #2). This department is responsible for preparing and administering a wide range of documents: bylaws. permits and policies related to land use and development as well as collecting taxes and fees.
