The kʷikʷəƛ̓əm government recently adopted a comprehensive Governance Policy Manual on March 2, 2020. The purpose of this manual is to ensure and promote good governance through documented rules and procedures of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ in the performance of their elected duties, consistent with best practices, utilizing a comprehensive governance model that supports cultural revitalization of traditional yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ values and systems. This model is intended to address all areas that yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓ can, and should, influence within an organization. Our Governance Policy Manual is intended be updated regularly to ensure yəw̓en̓ si:ʔem̓’s effectiveness and support the on-going incorporation and alignment of language and cultural as it is revitalized within the Nation.

The kʷikʷəƛ̓əm Nation is culturally strong, unified, self-sufficient, self-governing, healthy and thriving. The Nation has full-jurisdictional authority and our stewards of our traditional lands and waters.
We will realize our vision through naut’sa mawt to build capacity, and operate as a transparent, accountable, effective, sustainable government for the benefit of current and future generations, in accordance with our shared values.
The kʷikʷəƛ̓əm Government is guided by our kʷikʷəƛ̓əm values, which are:
naut’sa mawt means working together as one. Live in accordance with our ancestors’ values to work with one heart and one mind to revitalize our culture, language, protocols, traditions and practices for the benefit of all citizens, and future generations throughout all Nation work and areas responsibilities, including connection with, protection of, and stewardship of kʷikʷəƛ̓əm land and waters within our territory.
Build kʷikʷəƛ̓əm identity, trust, confidence, respect, hope, and support empowerment, unity, safety, self-determination, self-sufficiency of kʷikʷəƛ̓əm m̀əlstéyəxw, and well-being through engaged and shared planning to realize shared goals and interests, through creative approaches with the Administrative team and community
Acknowledge and treat members, peers, Leadership and staff with fairness, dignity, respect and professionalism. Equality amongst all our people (home and away from home), and the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm Government whom we work with.
To continually develop and learn our shared understandings of our history, maintain, enhance, and revitalize our traditional knowledge, protocols/practices, working knowledge/education, and capacity through naut’sa mawt within the Nation and with local community.
